To a considerable extent, Podhoretz’s problem is of course simply “Why aren’t Jews – or more Jews, all Jews – neocons?” But although I disagree strongly with many of his views, neocons are not wrong on all issues, and ignoring nuances and partial truths does not help the cause of the necessary criticism. Podhoretz does say at least a few things about Jewish liberalism that are true and important, quite apart from his own particular agenda.
