  2. This liner was the largest & most luxurious of the NDL ‘Kaiser Klasse’ ships. She was enormously popular with wealthy Americans who could well afford her luxurious deluxe suites. Bar Harbour woke to the shocking site of this gracious ship right on their door step. Many of the town’s residents were well acquainted with the liner, her captain and her hand picked crew. Several days of festive celebration followed her unanticipated arrival – while political manouvers went back and forth trying to decide what to do next.

    It is an interesting historical excerpt which models well the idea that average citizens have little interest in the warring machinations of the shakers & movers who are often dangerously fond of the ‘sport of warfare’.
