The Waterhouse Exhibition at the Royal Academy

In the Peristyle (1874)

The Waterhouse exhibition is excellent, although it is predictably and unnecessarily called ‘J. W. Waterhouse: The Modern Pre-Raphaelite’. I am among those who prefer his early work, which is neither modern(ist) nor Pre-Raphaelite. Fortunately, quite a few of the early, classicist paintings are displayed too.
